Disney Interactive Studios (first Walt Disney Computer Software, later Disney Interactive, then Buena Vista Games Inc. and then Disney Interactive Studios Inc.) is a distributor of video games and interactive entertainment software from the Walt Disney Company .

Walt Disney Computer Software

In 1988 Walt Disney Computer Software was founded as a subsidiary of Walt Disney Consumer Products, a division of the Walt Disney Company. The business was run by Sheley Miles, the former vice president of the Walt Disney Music Company.

Disney Interactive

In 1996, Walt Disney Computer Software was renamed Disney Interactive. In the early years, the developers at Disney Interactive worked more as a publisher, with games industry leaders such as Sony Computer Entertainment, Nintendo, Activision, Capcom, (most of the alliances), Konami and Ubi Soft cooperating to create strategic developments. Disney Interactive dealt with, among other things, mass marketing, global developments, publications and distribution of interactive entertainment software based on its intellectual property (including the Disney characters and other royalty exemptions).

Buena Vista Games

To diversify its portfolio, the company established itself in 2003 as Buena Vista Games and is divided into two productions. Buena Vista Games developed titles across multiple platforms for creative content from the numerous companies within the Walt Disney Company and Disney Interactive markets entertainment and educational software for children.

Disney Interactive Studios Inc.

In 2007, Buena Vista Games was renamed Disney Interactive Studios. The studio released video games from both Disney and non-Disney. In June 2008, Disney Interactive Media Group was founded, a spin-off from Disney Interactive.
