action

Disney Infinity has a main story and several side stories, as well as a freeplay mode, in which there is no fixed plot (the player can rather do what he likes). Disney Infinity has two general game modes, "Play Sets" and "Toy Box". The "Play Sets" are episode-like modules, each presenting a completed plot that revolves around Disney characters or films. The modules Monsters University , Pirates of the Caribbean and The Incredibles are included ; further modules are available for download , but subject to a charge. The "Toy Box" mode is a sandbox mode in which players can create their own game environment from components.

Game principle and technology

In the game it is possible with NFC technology , which has already been used at Skylanders , to buy characters separately and to integrate them into the game with the help of an "Infinity Board". The playable characters are all characters taken from Disney films or series. An overview of all published and playable characters can be found in the Disney Infinity character list . In addition, locations that are based on Disney's films and series can be bought separately using a similar technology with code plates and placed on the infinity board, so that you can visit them with the characters.

IGN praised the varied gameplay and the successful character drawing of the comic characters, but criticized the lack of various cartoon classics at the time of publication and an imprecise construction mode. 4Players positively emphasized the visual and content design of the game world as well as the German voice output, but found the gameplay to be too simple and the editor unintuitive.
