District 97 is an American progressive rock band that was formed in Chicago in the fall of 2006 .

Band history

The four founders of the band played instrumental metal based on Liquid Tension Experiment before they decided to take on a singer. The choice fell on Leslie Hunt, who had participated in the semifinals of the sixth season of American Idol . Sam Krahn was soon replaced by Jim Tashjian and the band's style became more approachable and melodic. District 97 subsequently performed numerous live performances in Europe and the USA.

In 2010 the band signed a recording deal with The Laser's Edge, released their debut album and made a festival recording available on Bandcamp . The second album followed in 2012, John Wetton was involved as a guest singer. Further live recordings were also offered for download, and finally, with Wetton's participation, a live album with pieces by King Crimson was produced.
