It was founded by Sonja Schukat, who was previously the director of the storm surge world “Blanker Hans” exhibition . The museum has been a member of the Federal Association of German Children's and Youth Museums since November 2016.

It is not far from the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast and the Speichererkoog in Meldorf, the “cultural capital of Dithmarschen”, and will present its first long-term exhibition “Stay on the ball” from March 18 to June 25, 2017. In this interactive exhibition, which was loaned from the “Zinnober” children's museum and funded by the DFB Kulturstiftung, everything revolves around football and sport.
