Division I (chess) 1972/73
The 1972/73 season was the fourth season of the Allsvenskan in chess .
Division I Norra
In the north relay, last year's finalist Wasa SK and Upsala ASS fought head-to-head for the final qualification, and despite the defeat in direct comparison, Upsala was in the lead in the end. Allians Gävle and SK Rockaden Stockholm were promoted from Division II . While Rockaden Stockholm achieved relegation and has been in the top Swedish league since then, Gävle and Schack-27 Kamraterna Stockholm had to relegate directly.

Division I Södra
In the south season, Limhamns SK won all competitions and distanced the defending champion Lunds ASK by five points. From the Division II of goods SK Kamraterna and the second team of Lunds ASK ascended. Both climbers managed to stay in the league, while Schacksällskapet Manhem and Malmö AS , who had only missed qualifying for the final last year because of poorer board points, had to relegate.

In the final, the winners of the two seasons met with Upsala ASS and Limhamns SK. While the first leg was still somewhat close to Upsala with 5: 3, they landed a 6½: 1½ victory in the second leg and thus became Swedish team champions.
