Division I (chess) 1986/87

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1986/87 season was the 18th season of the Allsvenskan in chess and at the same time the last before the introduction of the Elitserien. Thus, the qualification for the Elitserien was played out at the same time, and it had been determined that the top three of Division I, Norra and Södra, qualified directly for the Elitserien. The fourth and fifth placed of the two seasons of Division I played the two remaining starting positions of the Elitserien with the four season winners of Division II .

Division I Norra

In the northern season, the reigning champions SK Rockaden Stockholm surprisingly missed the qualification for the final tournament, but was at least third directly qualified for the Elitserien . The two starting places at the final tournament were secured by Wasa SK and Upsala ASS . Schack 08 and Södra SASS took the two places for the qualification tournament, while the two climbers SK Passanten and Linköpings ASS as well as Vällingby Schacksällskap had to compete in second class next season.
