date and location

The competitions were held in Norrköping on November 5th and 6th .

Tournament course

After both the defending champion SK Rockaden Stockholm and the promoted Schackkamraterna Solna waived their participation in the Allsvenskan, a Stockholm district selection in Division I was sent to the start. The two starting places that became vacant were awarded to the two best relegated teams from 1958 and 1959, the Skåne team and SK Kamraterna Göteborg . Since the team from Skåne had since been disbanded, this place was given to Malmö Allmänna SK instead . Stockholm became Swedish champions despite losing points to the Östergötland team that had been promoted last year . Malmö managed to stay in the league despite a negative board point account, while Östergötland and Gothenburg had to relegate.
