Division Two 1997

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Two 1997 Division was the second season of the third English rugby league league . The first three places in the table after the end of the regular season occupied the Hunslet Hawks , Rochdale Hornets and Leigh Centurions , who rose to Division One . The reason for this was that the Oldham Bears , which should actually be relegated to the second division, relegated to the third division due to financial problems, whereby three instead of two teams rose from the third to the second division. In 1997 the number of teams was reduced from 12 to 11, as the South Wales Dragons no longer participated.
