The tournament was divided into a preliminary round and a final round. The eight participating teams first played a simple round-robin tournament . The first four played for the title in Poule Haute , the last four in Poule Basse against relegation. The total of the team points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a defeat), then the direct comparison and finally the number of board points (3 points for a win, 2 points for a Draw, 1 point for a loss, 0 points for a loss without a fight). For the final placement, both the points from the preliminary round and the points from the final round were taken into account.
Game dates
The competitions were held on October 10, November 14 and 28, December 12, 2010, January 9 and 30, February 13, March 6 and 20 and April 3, 2011.
Preliminary round
As in previous years, De Sprénger Echternach, Le Cavalier Differdange , Gambit Bonnevoie and Cercle d'échecs Dudelange qualified for the Poule Haute. The only countable success of the second half of the table against the first was a draw between Echternach and the second team from Bonnevoie.
Differdange and Echternach had the best starting positions with 12: 2 points each and won the first two competitions, so the direct comparison had to decide in the last round. Since Echternach had defeated Differdange in the preliminary round, the draw was enough for them to become champions in a direct comparison by winning.
After the preliminary round, the decision against the two newcomers seemed to have been made, but after victories against Schëffleng and Differdange's second team, Bonnevoie's second team was back in the race. A win against fellow promoted Dommeldange-Beggen meant the relegation for Bonnevoie, while Differdange's second team had to relegate after the defeat against Schëffleng.
