The Dixie State College (also called DSC , Dixie College or Dixie State ) is a state university in St. George in the southwest of the US state Utah . More than 6000 students are enrolled here.
history
The DSC was founded in 1911 as the St. George Stake Academy by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). In 1916 the college was renamed Dixie Normal College and in 1923 Dixie Junior College . In 1933 the college was nationalized. In 1970 there was another name change to Dixie College . The university was given its current name and university status in 2000.
Sports
The DSC sports teams are called Trailblazers . The college is a temporary member of the Pacific West Conference .
