Dmitri Bruns

Dmitri Bruns (born January 11, 1929 in Riga ; † March 21, 2020 ) was an Estonian architect and architecture theorist.

Life

Dmitri Bruns graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineering in Leningrad in 1953 . From 1960 to 1979 he was the secretary in charge of the Association of Architects of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic . In 1968 he received his doctorate in architecture.

From 1960 to 1980 Dmitri Bruns was chief architect of the Estonian capital Tallinn and from 1980 to 1991 head of the state building committee of the Estonian SSR. He is one of the authors of the Tallinn Urban Development Plan, completed in 1971. In 1973 he was awarded the title of "Honored Architect of the Estonian SSR" for his achievements.

In addition, Bruns submitted numerous scientific and historical works on Tallinn's architectural history and urban planning.
