Dmitri Petrovich Maksutow (Дмитрий Петрович Максутов, born May 10, 1832 in Perm ; † 1889 ) was an officer in the Imperial Russian Navy and the last governor of the Russian-American Company (RAK).

Life

Maksutov became a member of the Marine Cadet Corps in 1840, from which he graduated in 1847 with the rank of Marine Cadet (гардемарин). In 1851 Maksutov was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the 46th Division, in the Far East of Russia . With the outbreak of the Crimean War , he was moved to Petropavlovsk in June 1854 .

His two brothers Pavel Maksutow and Alexander also took part in this war. Pawel was a member of the Black Sea Fleet , on board the battleship Paris during the naval battle of Sinope . Alexander and Dimitri fought in the siege of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky . Dmitri Maksutow commanded the legendary cannon battery No. 2, his brother Alexander commanded No. 3. After the battle, both were awarded the Order of St. George of the Fourth Degree .
