Dnevnik ( Bulgarian Дневник , German transcription : Dnewnik , in German about Tagblatt ) is an economically oriented Bulgarian daily newspaper that has been published Monday to Friday since 2001. Dnevnik's online service is a partner portal of EurActiv .

Until the beginning of 2005 the newspaper was printed in broadsheet format , making it the last Bulgarian newspaper to use this large format. After a survey in 2005 found that over 50 percent of the readership would prefer a smaller, thicker newspaper, the company switched to a more compact format. The editorial team takes a liberal course: the state should intervene less and give the economy more freedom. Like the influential weekly, the business and political magazine Capital , the newspaper Dnevnik is published by Economedia, based in Sofia .

The German publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck (including Handelsblatt ) held a 50 percent stake in Economedia . However, the Bulgarian owners of Economedia bought these shares back in November 2007.

Dnevnik has a print run of 12,000 to 15,000 copies. 6,000 copies go to paying subscribers, 2,000 to 5,000 copies are distributed free of charge and 5,000 copies go to newsstands and kiosks. In November 2005, the paper launched the supplement Morski Dnevnik ( morski is the adjective to sea / German: Meeres-Tageblatt ) for the Bulgarian Black Sea region , which appears together with the Friday edition.

Dnevnik publishes a daily internet edition in Bulgarian and English and emails the main headlines of the day in one of the two languages to all subscribers to this free service. There is also an RSS short message service in Bulgarian.

In 2009 Dnevnik received the award for the best information website from the Bulgarian Web Association .
