The Dniester reservoir ( Ukrainian Дністровське водосховище Dnistrovke vodoschowyschtsche ) is a 142 km² reservoir of the Dniester in Ukraine .
The lake holds 3000 million m³ of water. It was created by a dam with hydroelectric power plant ( Дністровська ГЕС ) near Novodnistrovsk , which was built from 1973 to 1983 and put into operation in 1983 . The reservoir has a length of 194 km and a maximum depth of 54 m.
The hydropower plant is located upstream of the Dniester pumped storage power plant . Both are operated by the Ukrainian Ukrhydroenergo and form the Dniester cascade . The power plant has six turbines with a total output of 702 MW (6 × 117 MW). The reservoir is dammed by a 60 m high and 1082 m long gravity dam. On the shore of the lake, among others, the towns Novodnistrovsk, are Rudkiwzi , Neporotowe , Stara Ushytsia and Komariw .
