Novodnistrovsk ( Новодністровськ ; Russian: Новоднестровск / Nowodnestrowsk ) is a city in the Ukrainian Chernivtsi Oblast . It is located about 116 km northeast of Chernivtsi on the right bank of the Dniester , the district capital Sokyrjany is south of the city.

The place was founded on April 3, 1973 by resolution of the Ministry of Energy of the USSR in the course of the construction of the hydropower plant on the Dniester reservoir , was elevated to an urban-type settlement in 1975 , received city rights in 1982 and has been part of Ukraine since 1991. In 1993 it got the status of a town under district administration (in Sokyrjany district ), since July 13, 2000 it is a town under oblast administration.
