Do Make Say Think is a Canadian band from Toronto , Ontario . Their music can mainly be assigned to post-rock , which the group combines with elements from jazz and electro .

The band name refers to the band's rehearsal room (which was still in school at the time), where four pieces of paper were hung with the words "Do", "Make", "Say" and "Think".

history

Do Make Say Think was founded between 1995 and 1996 in Toronto, where the band recorded their self-titled debut album in 1997 , which they released without a record label . In the spring of 1998, the Montreal post-rock label Constellation Records became aware of her, and in the same year her debut was re-released on Constellation. Since then, Do Make Say Think have stayed loyal to the label. Southern Records has been taking care of the releases in Europe since then .

The founding members of the band are Ohad Benchetrit ( guitar , electric bass , saxophone , flute ), Jason McKenzie ( keyboard ), James Payment ( drums ), Justin Small (guitar) and Charles Spearin (bass, guitar, trumpet ). Jason McKenzie left the band after the recording of their second album, but in 1998 Dave Mitchell joined the band. Lately Jason Baird, Brian Cram and most recently Julie Penner have played with the band as supporters.

Do Make Say Think released six albums by 2009 and has established itself as a fixture in the post-rock scene. The group now has fans in all parts of the world, which is also thanks to their extensive tours.

In 2017, after a long break, the album Stubborn Persistent Illusions was released, on which the band increasingly integrated electronic sounds.
