docomomo
Docomomo is an international association. The name stands for International Working Party for Do cumentation and Co nservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods of the Mo countries Mo vement . Translated, this means International Association for the Documentation and Preservation of Buildings and Urban Development Ensembles in the Modern Style . The aim is to promote documentation and scientific research as well as informing the public about the cultural significance of modern architecture.
The organization was founded in Eindhoven in 1988 by the Dutch architects Hubert-Jan Henket and Wessel de Jonge. In some states there are now national sections (national working parties). The German section docomomo.de has been an independent association in Dessau-Roßlau since 2006 . The Austrian working group docomomo.at was established in 2000 and was officially recognized in 2001.
