Dodendorfer Straße 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, Helmholtzstraße 40, 42, Kutzstraße 1, 3, 17, Raiffeisenstraße 9-11 is the name used in the local monument register for a group of listed houses in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

The monument area comprises a large block of houses with an approximately rectangular floor plan. The long sides running in north-south direction are bounded by Kutzstrasse in the west and Dodendorfer Strasse in the east. The narrow sides are formed by Helmholtzstrasse in the north and Raiffeisenstrasse in the south.

Architecture and history

The group of houses includes tenement houses built at the beginning of the 20th century. At the northern end of the block facing Helmholtzstrasse, the three to four-story plastered houses are designed in Art Nouveau style. They have segmented arched windows and box oriels which are crowned by high, curved gables . The facades are structured in various ways with brick strips. As a decorative element, corrugated plaster is used in some places. These buildings also form an ensemble with neighboring, similarly designed historical industrial architecture.

To the south there are half-timbered houses with box oriels in the late Art Nouveau style. Other buildings are designed in the style of the reform architecture of the period after 1900.

In the local monument register, the group of houses is recorded as a monument area under registration number 094 82674 .

The group of houses is a remarkable example of urban planning for the construction of apartment buildings in Magdeburg at the beginning of the 20th century.
