- Doe or Die Pieces of a Man
(1998)

Doe or Die is New York rapper AZ's debut album . After AZ became known on Na's debut album Illmatic in 1994, he worked on his own work. Doe or Die is considered a classic in hip-hop circles and is one of the albums inspired by mafia films.

The lyrics are about fictional stories from the underworld of organized crime . AZ lives a fantasized, breakneck gangster lifestyle with luxury limousines , beautiful women and Cuban cigars without thinking about tomorrow, as it is often shown in movies.

AZ is featured on a portrait on the cover of Doe or Die. Bundles of money and an estate can be seen around the portrait. The backdrop is supposed to represent life in luxury and prosperity.
