Dog Island (from English dog ' dog ' ) is an island off the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the northernmost of the Llanquihue Islands .

Participants of the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill mapped them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on July 7, 1959, because Cat Island ( English cat ' cat ' ) is exactly opposite it.
