The Llanquihue Islands ( Spanish Grupo Llanquihue, Islas Llanquihue ; in the United Kingdom Straggle Islands , translated as scattered islands , in Argentina Islas Straggle ) are an archipelago off the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They extend for 15 km to the north east of Larrouy Island . They include Dog Iceland .
Participants of the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill mapped them. Her name, which is derived from the Chilean province of Llanquihue , was first recorded on a Chilean map from 1947. Their descriptive name, which is valid in the United Kingdom, was given on July 7, 1959 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee .
