Hartley and Anderson had previously worked together successfully in the Keef Hartley Band and had performed at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, among others . In 1975 they got together again and formed Dog Soldier as a kind of "Keef Hartley Band Reunion".
The band brought out an album called Dog Soldier , based on the " dog soldiers ". After that, Hartley and Bliss left the group. With Eric Dillon (drums) and Jim Leverton (bass) the band went on tour again and broke up.
Hartley played after Dog Soldier again with Michael Chapman , Anderson first with Mick Taylor , then with T. Rex .
