The Dokufest is a film festival in Prizren , Kosovo .

Demonstration in summer 2016

The festival has taken place every summer since 2002. On display are short and documentary films . The founder and artistic director is Veton Nurkollari. The first films were shown in the former open-air cinema "Lumbargi", later other screening locations such as the Byzantine fortress or an old Turkish hammam were added because there were no closed cinemas in Prizren after the Kosovo war . This gives the festival a special character compared to other documentary film festivals. The films shown are predominantly in English and around a quarter of the visitors are international. In 2014, around 10,000 tickets were sold for a total of 250 films. The income from the Festival for the Kosovar Economy is estimated at 3 million euros. 14,000 tickets were sold in 2015; there were six competitions and a special program with fifteen departments. The winners in the international competitions were:

  • International Shorts: Hamy Ramezan and Rungano Nyoni, Lists
