Dolerus triplicatus is a plant wasp from the family of sawfly (Tenthredinidae).

features

The species reaches a body length (head-wing end) of about 12 millimeters. The plant wasp is colored orange. The pronotum has a distinctive black pattern of spots. On the outer edge of the wing there is a black mark on the wing , characteristic of the genus Dolerus .

distribution

The species is distributed in the western Palearctic . It is widespread in Europe and is also found in the south of England. To the east it is found in the Middle East .

Way of life

The plant wasps are particularly common in May and June. Their host and forage plants include representatives from the genus of rushes ( Juncus ).
