history

Iron ore mines had been developed north of Dolgeville near Salisbury . The Salisbury Steel and Iron Company therefore founded the Dolgeville and Salisbury Railway based in Dolgeville on July 8, 1907, to transport the iron ore. The registered capital was $ 150,000. The 7.2-kilometer route from Dolgeville to Salisbury Center began operating on January 16, 1908. It was operated by the Little Falls and Dolgeville Railroad . In return, she was credited with shares worth $ 2 for every freight car transported. The agreement was to end when all of the company's shares were transferred to Little Falls and Dolgeville Railroad. In 1910 the line was extended to the iron ore mine in Irondale.

At the time of the merger of Little Falls and Dolgeville Railroad with the New York Central Railroad , this company owned shares worth $ 35,724 in the Dolgeville and Salisbury Railway. The management agreement was adopted by NYC. During 1916, NYC acquired all of the outstanding shares and eventually merged on January 15, 1917.
