Dollar imperialism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dollar imperialism is a political catchphrase coined by Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov at the beginning of the Cold War . It referred to the US Marshall Plan .

The Soviet Union saw the Marshall Plan as a US instrument for creating a special 'sphere of influence' in Western Europe after the Second World War . In response to this, the Council for Mutual Economic Aid (Comecon) was established.

The term dollar imperialism was first used to refer to United States political activity in Central America around 1912.
