Dolly is a rock band from Nantes , France .
history
Dolly was founded in 1991 by Thierry Lacroix and Emmanuelle Monet. Together with two friends - Michaël Chamberlin and the then 15-year-old Nicolas Bonnière - they were initially known as Dolly and C ° until their debut album of the same name . Their music stems from Monet and Lacroix's predilection for English and American music and is influenced by music greats like the Smashing Pumpkins , Blondie and especially PJ Harvey .
After working with the English producer Clive Martin in the mid-1990s, the band released their album Un jour de rêves in 1999, which until then had become famous mainly for their live performances , followed by Plein Air in 2002, in which Dolly reconnects musically oriented towards their first album.
In 2004, the band's last album to date, called Tous des stars, was released . On May 25, 2005, bassist Michaël Chamberlin had a fatal accident in a car, whereupon the remaining three band members stopped their performances and studio work immediately.
In 2008 Emmanuelle Monet and Nicolas Bonnière released a CD called Rendez-Vous , which continues the musical style influenced by Dolly, under the band name "Manu".
