Dolmen de la Cabana Arqueta

The Dolmen de la Cabana Arqueta is one of the dolmen of Espolla with ten other megalithic structures . It is located southwest of Espolla , in the Comarca Alt Empordà in the province of Girona in Catalonia in Spain . It is located on a 150 meter high hill and is a between 2700 and 2500 BC. Chr. Built gallery grave with access to the southeast. The chamber is 2.5 m long and 2.0 m high.

In 1110 it served as a boundary stone. In 1866 he was visited by an anonymous French scholar who was exploring many dolmens in the Empordà. In 1879, the teacher of Espolla Antoni Balmanya i Ros made the dolmen famous by publishing a note in the magazine of the Catalan Association for Scientific Excursions. During the 20th century it was examined and excavated several times, with important findings being made, among others, from the Empordanès de Salvaguarda group. It was restored at the end of the 20th century.
