Dolmen de la Colle

The Dolmen de la Colle is a dolmen northeast of Mons in the Var department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The dolmen is located a little less than a kilometer southwest of the Dolmen de la Brainée on a pass at an altitude of 970 m. It was mentioned in 1929 by Paul Goby (1879-1937) and in 1974 by Jean Courtin (born 1936) and restored in 1990 by Hélène Barge-Mahieu.

The cairn has a diameter of about 10 meters. The small dolmen is made of local limestone . The chamber is 2.1 m long and 1.6 m wide. It is limited by two large lateral orthostats and a large end plate that is separated from the lateral plates by dry masonry . In the west there is a small corridor, of which only a 1.7 m long slab has been preserved in the southeast.

The dolmen was examined at an unknown time.

Nearby is the Dolmen de la Brainée .
