Dolmen del Barranc

The Dolmen del Barranc , along with ten other megalithic structures, is one of the Espolla dolmens. It is located north of Espolla , in the Comarca Alt Empordà in the province of Girona in Catalonia in Spain . It is located in El Barranc, near the border with Rabós on a medieval path that can also be older.

It is a megalithic complex with several burials from around 3200–2700 BC. The slabs are made of slate and form a trapezoidal chamber and a corridor made of dry masonry with a semicircular lobby at the entrance. The cover plate is broken and shows engravings, some of which depict human figures. Others are geometrical or form anthropomorphic crosses. The megalithic complex was restored in 1984 and consolidated in 1986 by Rafael Insa under the direction of Josep Tarrús i Galter and Júlia Chinchilla y Sanchez.
