The Mont Revincu dolmens were discovered by A. Mortillet in the late 19th century. The place is in the north of Corsica on a practice area, on a small ridge near Santo-Pietro-di-Tenda in the Haute-Corse department , in the coastal plain about 2 km from the Gulf of Saint-Florent . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

Time of the megalithic systems in Corsica

Between 1995 and 2005 the complex was excavated by F. Leandri. He found more than 30 stone structures, including two dolmens , at least six stone boxes and 29 rectangular structures ranging in size from 20 to 50 m². The connection between these remains and the monuments has not been established due to poor conservation.

However, the analysis showed a great homogeneity of stone and ceramic production. Due to the C14 data that were determined inside and outside the structures, the origin could be traced back to the beginning of the 4th millennium BC. Be narrowed down.

The two dolmens underwent some changes as they were later used as stables. Their excavation showed, however, that they were built in the middle of a paved area about ten meters in diameter.

Several stone boxes were found in the middle of similar structures. Others show no attached structure on the outside. The stone boxes A and B showed an internal division of their chamber during the excavation.
