Dolmen of Peyco Levado
The dolmen of Peyco Levado (also known as the Dolmen of Laramière , Dolmen de Peyre Levade or Borie du Bois ) is located in a small clearing south of the D 55 road between Beauregard and Laramière near Villefranche-de-Rouergue in the Lot department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
The dolmen is much larger than the average dolmen in Lot. It has an approximately 6.0 × 4.0 meter capstone, which overhangs the low supporting stones on all sides and lies above an approximately 5.0 meter long chamber that is oriented west-east. It lies in the remains of its hill, which may still have the remains of a surrounding stone circle.
On the capstone above the entrance to the chamber there is a large goblet carved into the rock.
