Savatole dolmen
Not far from the Dolmen de la Frébouchère are the three dolmens of Savatole , ( French Groupe de Dolmens de Savatole ) near Le Bernard between La Roche-sur-Yon and La Rochelle in the Vendée (85) department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
Dolmen 1
Right next to a narrow road in the north of the village of Le Bernard lies Dolmen 1, whose oval chamber is 3 meters long and 2.5 meters wide and is covered by a single capstone. The floor of the chamber is paved with large slabs. There are other stones that belong to a corridor.
Dolmen 2
Like Dolmen 1, this dolmen was excavated in 1906 and improperly restored. It is a simple dolmen ( French dolmen simple ) with a 2.5 × 2.5 meter chamber and a single capstone that rests on three standing stones. A rarely observed feature is the leveled rock slab at the bottom of the chamber.
Dolmen 3
Dolmen 3 is larger but more damaged than the other two. It appears that it had a 4 x 2.5 meter chamber. The only surviving capstone rests on two lateral bearing stones and the end stone at the western end. As with the other dolmens, a large smooth stone slab forms the floor.
