Hans-Jürgen Gebhardt (born April 18, 1945 in Homburg ) is a German specialist lawyer for traffic law , specialist lawyer for criminal law , counsel and founder of the law firm Gebhardt & Kollegen in Homburg. According to a ranking by the magazine Focus from 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013, he is one of the leading traffic lawyers in Germany, according to an investigation by the specialist magazine Wirtschaftswoche he is one of the best 20 traffic lawyers in Germany and in 1999 the Focus also classified him as the leading traffic lawyer in Germany.

life and work

After studying theology and law in Heidelberg , Frankfurt am Main and Saarbrücken , he completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Zweibrücken . In addition, he worked at the University of Saarbrücken as a research assistant to Prof. Schuhmacher at the chair for civil law.

As a lawyer, Gebhardt settled in 1975 in his hometown on the upper floor of his parents' orthopedic and shoe store. He has also been a contract attorney at ADAC Munich since 1975. Since 1982 he has been on the preparatory committee of the German Traffic Court Conference and since 1984 lecturer at the German Lawyers Academy in Berlin. From 1985 to 2006 he was chairman of the ARGE der Verkehrsanwälte in Berlin. In 1986 he founded the law firm Gebhardt & Kollegen in Homburg, which today is one of the largest law firms in the Saar-Palatinate region. In 1989 Gebhardt was awarded the Badge of Honor of the German Lawyers' Association (Berlin) . In 1995 he was licensed as a specialist lawyer for criminal law, and he was licensed as a specialist lawyer for traffic law in 2005. Since 1997, he has supported the ADAC Saarland as in-house counsel . From 2001 to 2009 he was Vice President of the German Traffic Court Conference in Goslar.

The Saarland state government awarded him the title of Councilor of Justice in 2003 for special services to the administration of justice. This was followed in 2005 by the awarding of the medal of honor by the mayor of Homburg and a commemorative publication in honor of attorney lawyer Justizrat H.-J. Gebhardt of the Working Group for Traffic Law, Berlin. Since 2009 he has been a member of the legal working group of the entire ADAC .

Hans-Jürgen Gebhardt is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Zeitschrift für Schadenrecht (ZfS) and has numerous other honorary functions. He is chairman of the specialist lawyer committee for traffic law of the Saarland Bar Association as well as a member of the corresponding specialist committees for criminal law and insurance law. He is also a lecturer at numerous advanced training events, including a. also for specialist lawyer courses. As a traffic lawyer, he can be seen regularly as an expert on television and his advice is also frequently requested in the print media and on the radio.

In 2018 he was awarded the Senator Lothar Danner Medal .
