Domenico Distilo (born December 25, 1978 in Rome , Italy ) is an Italian director and screenwriter .

life and work

Distilo has lived and worked between Rome and Berlin since 2009. He completed his directing studies at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. His graduation film Inatteso / Unexpected premiered in 2006 at the Berlinale Forum. The film won in the category “Best Documentary” at the Alicante Film Festival ( Spain ) and received a special mention from the jury of the Arcipelago Film Festival in Rome. In 2008 his screenplay When Elephants Fight won the prestigious Italian "Premio Solinas" as best screenplay. Between 2013 and 2016 he produced and directed four documentaries Urban Extreme, Jerusalem , Imaginary Roma, Artists against , The secret landscape , The memory of things for the Italian public broadcaster RAI 3 .

In 2019 his last documentary Manga Do, Igort and the way of manga , produced by "Moon Jar Film" in Berlin, was distributed in German and Italian cinemas.
