Domestic Finishing Mill
The Domestic Finishing Mill is a former spinning mill in the Scottish town of Paisley in the Renfrewshire council area . In 1984 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists, initially in category B. It was upgraded to the highest category A in 1989. Together with the Mile End Mill , which is also listed , it belonged to the Anchor Mills company .

The five-story building is west of downtown Paisley on the banks of White Cart Water . It was built in 1886 to a design by the Woodhouse & Morley architectural firm . At this point in time, the entire building was illuminated exclusively by electric light. Various extensions were added between 1912 and 1914.
The lattice windows are arranged on 16 or 18 vertical axes. The southwest corner of the building follows the course of the White Cart Water and is rounded. The masonry is made of red brick . The arches of the arched windows are set off by cream-colored sandstone. A decorative ribbon made of the same material runs around the foot of the rows of windows. Ashlar stone is processed on the foundation, which can also be found in the entrance area with a rough finish . Six-story towers soar on the northeast and southeast edges. They end with flat roofs that are surrounded by a 2.4 m high balustrade .
After production at this location ceased in 1993, numerous outbuildings were torn down. In the Domestic Finishing Mill, apartments as well as office and business premises were set up. There is also a supermarket at ground level.
