Domingo Liotta
Domingo Liotta (born November 29, 1924 in Diamante, Entre Ríos , Argentina ) is an Argentine doctor .
Life
Liotta's family emigrated from Italy to Argentina, where he studied medicine at the National University of Cordoba . In 1961 he went to the United States, where he was employed as a doctor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston , Texas with Michael Ellis DeBakey .
The 47-year-old patient Haskell Karp received an artificial heart developed by Liotta , which was replaced by a natural heart after 65 hours. Karp died shortly after the heart transplant.
