Sir Dominic Anthony Gerard Asquith KCMG (born February 7, 1957 ) is a British diplomat . Since 2006 he has served as the UK's ambassador to Iraq .

Asquith was born in 1957, the younger son of Julian Asquith, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Asquith , and his wife Anne Palairet. He is a grandson of Officer Raymond Asquith and a great-grandson of Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith . Asquith was educated at Ampleforth College . He is Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George .

In 1983 Asquith joined the British Diplomatic Service. There he was mainly used as a British representative in the Middle East. From 1986 to 1987 he was 2nd Secretary of the British Embassy in Damascus , from 1987 to 1989 the post of First Secretary at the British diplomatic mission in Muscat in Oman and from 2001 to 2004 he was Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General of the British representation in Riyadh . In 2004 he was appointed Deputy Special Envoy to Iraq and Deputy Head of the British Mission in Baghdad .

Since December 2007 Asquith has acted as "Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt", the British Ambassador to Egypt , after previously holding this post in Iraq.

Asquith has been married to Louise Cotton since 1988. The marriage resulted in two sons (* 1992 and * 1994) and two daughters (* 1989 and 1990).
