Dominic Catalano

Dominic Catalano (* 1956 in Syracuse / New York ) is an American children's book author and illustrator.

Catalano studied art education and visual arts at the State University of New York , received his masters degrees from Syracuse University and a Ph.D in art education from Ohio State University . In 1978 he founded Cat Graphics Design and Illustration in his hometown, of which he has been the owner and director ever since. In addition to working as an art and music teacher at various schools in New York State, he worked as a graphic designer and artistic director for the Herald Journal and the Post Standard in Syracuse between 1982 and 1986 .

Since 1988 Catalano has taught design, painting and illustration at Cazenovia College , from 1989 to 1991 he was professor of illustration at the State College of New York at Oswego . He then taught graphic design on the Onondaga County Board of Cooperative Educational Services for two years .

Since the early 1990s, Catalano has emerged as an illustrator of children's books such as the Joan Elizabeth Goodman series on the elephant Bernard and Marilyn J. Woody's Basil Bear series. In addition, several of his own books with his own illustrations were created.
