Dominic Bryce Hubbard, 6th Baron Addington (* 24. August 1963 ) is a British politician of the Liberal Democrats and Peer .

life and career

Hubbard was born on August 24, 1963 to James Hubbard, 5th Baron Addington , and Alexandra Patricia Millar.

He attended the Hewett School in Norwich and studied history at the University of Aberdeen . He graduated in 1988 with a Master of Arts .

Hubbard is chairman ( Chairman ) of Microlink PC (UK) Ltd . He is also Vice-President of the British Dyslexia Association , the UK Sports Association and Lakenham Hewitt Rugby Club .

He currently does not belong to the Hereditary Peerage Association . In November 2008 he attended the Rugby Expo .

Membership in the House of Lords

With the death of his father in 1982 he inherited the title of Baron Addington and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He took his seat for the first time on July 1, 1986, as the youngest peer at the time at the age of 22. He gave his inaugural address on March 4, 1987.

On the website of the House of Lords, he mentions education, prison reform, disability and sport as topics of political interest. He is dyslexic and speaks regularly about disability-related matters.

From 1994 to 2009 he was the liberal democratic spokesman for work and social services / pensions and disability, and from 1995 to 2010 for culture, media and sport.

From 2002 to 2010 Hubbard Whip was the Liberal Democrats, from 2005 to 2010 as Deputy Chief Whip ( Deputy Chief Whip ). From 2007 to 2010 he was the defense spokesman .

Hubbard is one of 90 elected hereditary peers currently serving in the House of Lords. In the election, he came in third out of three mandates awarded to his party. The other two were Conrad Russell, 5th Earl Russell , and Eric Lubbock, 4th Baron Avebury . In 2002 Hubbard became chairman of the Sports Group and since 2003 he has chaired the Rugby Union Group .

Hubbard attended meeting days regularly from 2001 onwards.

He has been married to Elizabeth Anne Morris since 1999. They don't have children.

Putative heir ( heir presumptive ) its title is the younger brother, Hon. Michael Hubbard.

Dominic Hubbard lives in London .
