Eric Reginald Lubbock, 4th Baron Avebury PC (born September 29, 1928 in London , † February 14, 2016 in Camberwell ) was a British nobleman and politician of the Liberal Democrats .

Career

Lubbock attended the prestigious Upper Canada College in Toronto , Ontario , Canada ; the Harrow School and studied engineering science at Balliol College of Oxford University .

After serving as a lieutenant in the Welsh Guards , Lubbock worked for Rolls-Royce from 1951 to 1960 .

For the Liberal Party he was a member of the House of Commons from 1963 to 1970 . During this time (from 1963) he was Chief Whip of his party. In 1971 he inherited the title of Baron Avebury from his cousin, who died childless, and has been a member of the House of Lords ever since .

He died of complications from leukemia .

family

Lubbock was married to Kina-Maria O'Kelly de Gallagh from 1953 to 1983, and he has three children from this marriage. After the death of his first wife, he married Lindsay Stewart in 1985; from this marriage comes a son.
