Dominique Bouhours
Dominique Bouhours (born May 15, 1628 in Paris , † May 27, 1702 ibid) was a French Jesuit , philologist, historian and author of religious works. He influenced important French classical authors such as Boileau , La Bruyère and Racine .
Together with Michel Le Tellier and Pierre Besnier , he worked on a translation of the New Testament into French based on the Vulgate , which was printed in Paris in 1686 under the title Le Nouveau Testament de Nostre Seigneur Jesus-Christ .
