Dominique Delestre (born February 18, 1955 in Nancy ) is a French entrepreneur and former racing car driver and racing team owner.

Racing career

Dominique Delestre's international driving career began in 1980 in the French Formula Renault championship . After two years in this championship, he switched to the Formula Renault Turbo Championship in 1982, where he was tenth overall in 1982 and ninth overall in 1983.

In 1984 he entered the French Formula 3 championship . He drove a Ralt RT3 and at the end of the season he finished ninth in the championship (champion Olivier Grouillard ). In 1985 he started for Eddie Jordan Racing , the team of the former Irish racing driver Eddie Jordan . This time he finished the championship in fifth place in the final ranking; Overall winner was Pierre-Henri Raphanel .

In the first race of the Formula 3000 - 1986 season on April 13th at Silverstone, Delestre collided with Thierry Tassin's March on the start-and-finish straight in the early stages of the race on a wet track in March 85B . The accident was so severe that the race had to be stopped. Delestre suffered serious injuries and was unable to contest races for a year. He made his comeback in June 1987 at the Le Mans 24-hour race , where he drove a P87 World Championship for Welter Racing . The car, whose cockpit he shared with Philippe Gache and Roger Dorchy , broke down after an overheated cylinder on the Peugeot engine. After a few more appearances in Formula 3000, he ended his active career at the end of the 1989 season .
