Dominique Stich

Dominique Stich (* 1951 ) is a French-Swiss linguist who advocated a modern and standardized spelling of Franco-Provençal .

life and work

Dominique Stich grew up in Belgium . He is related to the Swiss politician Otto Stich . He received his PhD in linguistics from the University of Paris V in 2001 with a thesis on the written language of Franco-Provençal.

He developed a standardized spelling system suitable for the various dialects of Franco-Provençal, the first version of which was named Orthographie de Référence A (ORB) in 1998 and when the dictionary Dictionnaire francoprovençal was published. Français / francoprovençal. 2003 by the Orthographie de Référence B (ORB) was replaced.

Stich directed the translation of the Tintin comic book L'affaire Tournesol by Hergé into Franco-Provençal under the title L'afére Pecârd.
