Domitilla the Elder
Flavia Domitilla the Elder ( Latin Flavia Domitilla maior ; † before 69) was the wife of the Roman emperor Vespasian .
According to Suetonius , she only obtained Roman citizenship in a process in which Flavius Liberalis from Ferentium , the clerk of a quaestor , assured that he was her father. Vespasian married her around the year 38. Domitilla the Elder was the mother of the younger Domitilla and the later emperors Titus and Domitian . She died before her husband became emperor. After her death Vespasian lived with Antonia Caenis .
