Domnall Brecc
Domnall Brecc mac Echdach Buide († December 642 ) was King of the Irish-Scottish Kingdom of Dalriada from 629 to 642 .
After he initially supported his ally Oswald of Northumbria with troops in the Battle of Heavenfield in 634 , Domnal's continued rule was considered unfortunate, as he lost a series of battles against his neighbors: In the Irish part of the empire his predecessor Connad had already fallen after a short reign; Domnall made enemies there of the Uí Néills , who belonged to the Columba clan . They defeated Donmal 637 at Mag Ráth ( Cath Maige Rátha ). But Domnal was not happier in Scotland either: the Picts defeated him 635 (near Caladrois) and 638 (near Glen Morriston) and his southern neighbor, the British kingdom of Strathclyde , also defeated him in 642 in the Battle of Strathcarron , in which he fell . He was succeeded by Ferchar I , to whom he had to grant a co-government in 636.
