Ferchar I.

Ferchar I (Ferchar mac Connad) (* before 636; † around 651) was King of the Irish-Scottish Empire of Dalriada from 642 to 650 .

Life

Ferchar was the son of Connad Cerr and a cousin of King Domnall Brecc , who probably had to recognize him as a fellow king as early as 636. At the latest when Domnall fell in the fight against King Owen of Strathclyde at Strathcarron in 642 , Ferchar became sole king. Ferchar I was followed by the joint rule of Dúnchad mac Conaing and Conall Crandomna from 650 onwards .
