The Domplatz in Münster in Westphalia is the square south of the St. Paulus Cathedral .

The outlines of the former Domburg from the 14th century can still be seen on today's Domplatz . The square was the center of cathedral immunity. The curiae of the canons of the cathedral chapter of Münster and the parish church for servants and servants of St. Jacobi have been located there since the Middle Ages . Directly in front of the former main gate, the Michaelistor , stands the city's historic town hall , a provocation of the citizens towards the bishop when the square was being built.

To the south of the square are the headquarters of the Münster district government , a branch of the Deutsche Post , two cafés and the LWL State Museum for Art and Cultural History . To the west, the Domplatz is bordered by the Fürstenberghaus of the Westphalian Wilhelms University and the Episcopal Palais , to the east by the backs of the shops on Prinzipalmarkt and the building of the former Reichsbank branch, which now also houses the district government.
