Don Abi

Don Abi (* 1972 in London ) is a jazz , soul and reggae singer of Nigerian origin living in Germany .

Don Abi grew up in Lagos . In 1986 he had to leave Nigeria and came to Cologne. Here he first appeared as a guest in various bands, then toured with his own High Voltage band in the 1990s and released his first single Criminaltiy No Pay in 1994 . He also worked as a live and studio musician a. a. with Maceo Parker and Gregory Isaacs . He contributed two songs to the 1995 album Liberation Thru Lyrics And Music by Weep Not Child .

With his brother Adé Bantu , he founded the group BANTU from 1997-98 , and he also became a member of its German-African group Brothers Keepers . His album Act Of Love , which is characterized by reggae and soul, was released in 2003, followed by the album No Philosophy in 2007 .
