Don Burgess (cyclist)
Donald Christopher "Don" Burgess (born February 8, 1933 in Hendon ) is a former British cyclist .
Don Burgess started twice in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games . In 1952 he won the bronze medal together with Ronald Stretton , Alan Newton and George Newberry . Four years later, at the games in Melbourne , he was awarded the British team ( Mike Gambrill , Tom Simpson and John Geddes third again). This was the sixth time in a row that the British team won the bronze medal in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games.
In 1959 Burgess started with Peter Brotherton at the six-day race in Melbourne and finished third.
